Shuttles and Transit Buses

It seems that no matter what the United States does to improve infrastructure, public transport is always lacking. No major city has reliable public transport, and it is nearly impossible to find a truly walkable city despite the size of the Land of the Free. Indeed, vacations to other countries always start with marveling at how traversable major cities such as Florence and Madrid are, and always end lamenting about how these same conditions do not exist in the United States. Some cities are working to improve this. Atlanta, for instance, is undergoing a project seeking to connect the Beltline to more areas, making a larger part of Atlanta much more walkable. Houston, under the Port of Houston Authority, is seeking similar improvements. However, instead of a walking trail, Houston is looking to improve public transportation.

The Port is a major economic engine, employing thousands of hard working employees across a variety of roles. However, the sheer numbers clocking into work at the same time leads to traffic problems, making many people late. Reliable bus and shuttle services, while not the one solution to this issue, can make it easier for the employees. Lowering the need for personal vehicles, this form of public transport can ferry contractors, employees, and visitors alike, helping to reduce overall traffic and gets rid of the time spent searching for that elusive parking spot. Obviously, this can increase productivity, giving employees more time to work and helps alleviate some concerns involving the commute.

Investing in more buses and shuttles could support the Port's desire to grow as well. As demand for port services increases and expansion projects move forward, so too will the need for forms of transportation that reach more areas. With the addition of more shuttles and buses, the Port can add additional routes, opening up the possibility of a wider pool of clients and even employees. This investment allows the Port of Houston to not only boost productivity now, but also helps prepare for the future. If interested in this opportunity, click on the link to learn more.
